Employment Background Checks
Expect several business
days to complete employment background checks.
One must remember pre-screening agencies do not
readily have the information you seek to provide
you with raw data or computer printouts at a
moments notice. Background checks take time.
They are reports, which highlight and summarize
critical information on an individual. In short,
patience is a virtue.
A respectable pre-screening agency will provide
their clients with a breakdown of the critical
facts. Items the employers may have concerns
with should be highlighted. Anywhere negative
information appears on the report, there should
also be policy notes on accepted industry
standards corresponding to the information.
Employment background checks can be delayed for
several reasons. Some reasons can be as simple
as the time it takes for court records to be
pull a court clerk. Agencies generally indicate
the reason for delays, and when a supplement can
be expected.
There may be sufficient material to make a
hiring decision. There are five main reasons why
information may not be available. Criminal
records can be delayed. Former employer may not
return phone calls, cannot be located, or have
simply gone out of business. School records are
from a school is closed, or on break. Certain
states are notorious for delays concerning
driver license inquires. Finally, not all
information has not been provided, or cannot be
read. Information employers send to
pre-screening agencies should be legible and
neat.
