Nursing background checks are conducted on the nurse's personal and employment history.


Background checks are for detecting criminal and/or unsavory acts. In the medicine field, where a persons health and life are in the hands of others, background checks are necessary. If administrators neglect to investigate nurses before employment and a horrible incident occurs, the administrators are then negligent and accountable.

Hospitals, which do not conduct thorough nursing background checks, may be sued if a mistake occurred and a life is injured or ended. Rising health insurance premiums are largely due to malpractice lawsuits. Some of these lawsuits could have been avoided had a thorough background check been ran.
