Background check services
Background check
services are not standardized operations many
consumers presume
they are.
If there is a registry, then there is a background search for
it. Unfortunately, this means a consumer, or business may have
paid for possible damning information. This could include arrest
records, as well as innocuous data as wrong street addresses,
social security numbers, and employment histories.
Caution should be taken, while such information may not be
incriminating by itself, as a whole it could be very damaging.
With identity theft on the rise, it is frightening that there
are not strict laws protecting the public against who can
purchase this data and why. The FCRA covers these provisions
including licensing and clauses on disclosure.
Some backgrounds check agencies specialize in confirming
residence histories, credit reports, educational transcripts,
and social security numbers, sex offender inquiries. Some even
provide drug-testing requests as well. Comprehensive backgrounds
check agencies may go as far as to include federal searches on
firearms and explosive violations as well as interstate
trafficking infractions, and more.
Customers, who are seeking to verify an applicants information
for employment or resume, do not need such an extensive security
sweep unless the position they are applying for calls for it.
