National Background Data Announces Nation's Largest Private Criminal Records Database.

Business Editors

OCALA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 21, 2001

National Background Data, LLC (NBD), a privately held company, today announced it has assembled what it believes to be the largest collection of criminal records outside of the FBI. This collection includes 35 statewide criminal records databases from 30 states, 27 states on line, with more on order. All reports are available immediately and are Fair Credit Reporting Act-compliant.

Robert W. Holloran, Chairman and CEO of NBD stated, "The attacks of September 11th dramatically raised the awareness of employers and property managers of the need to conduct more comprehensive background checks on prospective employees or tenants. In today's mobile society, checking a single county or state is not enough to identify an applicant's entire criminal history. We compiled The National Background Directory(TM) on line to fill emerging needs for criminal background searches across the nation. We believe we have the most comprehensive screening tool available today for the Nation's employers and property managers. With our new affordably priced Let's Check for America(TM) national screening product, in a couple of minutes an applicant's criminal history can currently be checked online in 27 states."

The National Background Directory(TM) includes criminal background information from a variety of state and county criminal repositories, courts, state departments of corrections and other agencies. The statewide databases NBD has online are from states with more than 60% of the US population and include more than 30 million criminal records. In the coming year, NBD anticipates having more than 100 statewide databases online from as many as 45 states and the District of Columbia that cover about 95% of the US population. NBD believes the only other comparable national screening product is the ChoicePoint National Criminal File introduced on November 1 by ChoicePoint, Inc. (NYSE:CPS)
